Ainslie started out with graphite, but
loves to use charcoal, pen & ink, soft
pastel and more recently, has found her
niche to be mixed media; pure ink, pastel
pencil and charcoal. She uses almost
exclusively Art Spectrum Colourfix Pastel
Papers, but also likes to use Canson Mi-Teintes
Pastel Papers and Arches Watercolour Blocks.
Through her art
and animals, Ainslie is naturally drawn to
photography. Starting out on a compact
Olympus, through a love and belief of self
education, (and lots of practice!) has
evolved her photography into moments in time
of what she captures through her eye.
Ainslie is drawn to and has a sensitive eye
for, light and clearly demonstrates this in
her art and photography. Ainslie
photograph's for pleasure, for public,
(shows and studs) private shoots and as use
for her and other artist's photo references,
(although permission must be obtained first)
Ainslie could
not imagine a life without animals. They
bring to her friendship, responsibility; a
bond that she says cannot be described in
words. To be around animals is to be a
better human being and her "solace found".
Although not a
full time artist, Ainslie has achieved
awards for her art with praise and interest
from within Australia and Overseas. Ainslie
is a member of The Arabian Horse Society of
Australia, Hornsby Art Society and the
Equine Art Guild. She has donated her
art and photography over the years and finds
this very rewarding. Ainslie accepts
commissions, with a portion of her fees
going towards and animal charity of the
artist's, or client's, choice.
